Human brain diseases are difficult to study due to complex mechanism and sampling difficulty. Although neuro organoids kick in as powerful in vitro models, for neurodegenerative disease, it remains challenging due to the limited longevity and maturity of organoids.
With improved long-term viability and cellular composition in ALI-CO, Dr. András Lakatos (CSO) and his team managed to construct patient-derived ALS/FTD (a neurodegenerative disease) model, which revealed the potentially targetable pathology, serving as personalized model for discovering neurodegenerative disease treatments. Building on ALI-CO and know-how provided by our CSO Dr Andras Lakatos, Our Brain-OPTIMATM, with improved structure complexity and multi-regional connections, could provide more systematic modeling on multiple complex neuro diseases for drug screening and personalized medicine.
